Which Swedish rear facing car seat will fit a small car?

I get an enormous amount of email each day with rear facing questions from parents all over the world. These are emails I really enjoy since questions from parents lead to better awareness of rear facing. One of the most common ones is “which seat will fit my small car” ? That could be a Golf, VW Polo, Honda Jazz, Peugeot 207, Honda Civic Hatchback, Mini Cooper, BMW 1-series, Nissan Versa, Subaru Impreza, etc.

Three Swedish rear facing car sets not suitable for small cars are Izikid X2, Izikid X1 Isofix and Maxi Cosi Mobi.  These seats require more room than other  seats.

Swedish RF seats ideal for small (and large) cars are Britax Hi-Way and Duologic Isofix.  Both these seats require about the same space and will fit almost any car. They have a fairly short seat cushion giving good leg space for your rear facing child.

Hi-Way is installed very easly by using seat belt and the two tether straps. Duologic has the added benefit of being able to handle both Isofixx and seat belt installation.  Safety for these two seats is as great as any other high quality Swedish rear facing seat.
