Britax Max-Way Plus is a nice and compact seat with a fairly tall seat back. It’s an upgraded version of the very popular model Max-Way. Both seats are approved for the ECE R44 standard 9-25 kg and have both passed the very strict Plus Test.
The two models are very similar, share the same shell and last the same amount of time rear facing. Max-Way Plus has four upgrades compared to the regular Max-Way. A slightly different shaped head support, new shoulder pads, SICT side protection and a slightly thicker textile.
The seat has always accommodated kids until about age 5 or 120-125 cm but Britax has during the summer 2021 updated height limits and now count the outer and lower shell as the maximum height of the seat. Previously top of head support has always counted as highest point of the seat. This means Max-Way Plus, and Max-Way , will last to around age 4 or about 110-115 cm. We, and most others, are still of the opinion that top of head support should count as highest point of the seat.
Max-Way Plus has a built in head support with integrated harness. This will always keep harness height at correct level and is easily adjustable with one hand. Angle is adjusted with a steel bar under front of the seat. Those who drive a car with seats sloping more than usual can add the optional angle adjuster for better sleep position.
The seat has passed the worlds strictest car seat standard, Swedish Plus Test, up to 25 kg. Max-Way Plus has a fairly short seat cushion which provide good leg room and make the seat very compact. It will fit well in pretty much any vehicle small to large. Leg space for child can also be adjusted to your preferences. For more leg space simply install the seat a bit further forward on vehicle seat. Seat shell is nicely curved and provide excellent side impact protection. Installation is straight forward with support leg and seat belt lockoffs on both sides making sure the seat is tight in the car. Fabric is easy to remove and washable at 30 degrees.
